I was named Joy, and it took me most of a lifetime to understand that I didn't have to become her.
I only had to stop getting in her way.
A few years ago I climbed into a van that I would later name,
"JoyRide", and drove without much of a plan,
because for once in my life I wanted to see what would happen if I didn't have one.
What I didn't know was that the journey would ultimately lead me home to myself.

JoyRide: Trusting the Magic of Life, weaves together the experiences that shaped my life: love and loss, searching and discovery, unexpected adventures, and those remarkable synchronicities that seem to arrive at just the right moment. Along the way, I began to see that the magic of life isn't something we have to chase or create. It's already here, woven into our divine design and the deeper intelligence of life itself.
This isn't a story about having life all figured out.
It's about what I discovered when I stopped trying so hard to figure it out, trusting more, listening within, and recognizing the innate wisdom and well-being that had been there all along.
Even the journey from Joyce to Joy became part of that remembering.
JoyRide is part road story, part personal reflection, and part invitation to see your own life through a slightly different lens.
Along the way, I began referring to some of my thinking as my "special effects team." Just as a movie can make something on a screen appear completely real, our thoughts have an extraordinary ability to create a vivid and convincing experience in the moment. We can become so absorbed in the movie that we forget we're watching one.
For me, recognizing this changed so much.
I began to see that I didn't have to believe, analyze, or act on every thought that appeared. I could let some of them simply pass through. And as my thinking settled, there was often something quieter underneath it all—clarity, wisdom, peace, and a deeper trust in life.
Each chapter closes with a Reflection, not homework, and certainly not another exercise in fixing yourself.
